Alex Albon has already expressed his wish list for 2025. All signs point to the Williams driver getting a new teammate by then; Logan Sargeant’s performance in the past twelve races has been less than satisfactory. For Albon, who is now in his fifth season in Formula 1, it is still crucial to have someone with the necessary experience and speed alongside him.

During the race weekend in Silverstone, Albon scored some points for Williams in front of the home crowd. The British-Thai driver drove his FW46 to ninth place, overtaking Esteban Ocon in the drivers’ championship. Albon had previously secured two World Championship points during the Monaco Grand Prix.

Albon’s four points put Williams in ninth place among the constructors; a mediocre result compared to the final score of the previous season. In 2025, Albon hopes to take the next step for the Grove-based team with the help of an ‘experienced’ teammate. “I just want someone who is fast to be with me,” he told the media in Silverstone. “Someone who can teach me something and make the team even better.”

Learning from Your Teammate

“If you want to improve yourself, it’s good to be able to look at a teammate,” explained Alex Albon. “How does he handle certain things, what kind of set-up does he choose, what kind of feedback does he give? You can learn a lot from that.” Albon is referring to an experienced professional who can strengthen the team with necessary knowledge. For now, Williams still has a number of options that fall under this category – Carlos Sainz is the favorite of team boss James Vowles, although a return for veteran Valtteri Bottas is also not unthinkable.

Alex Albon has already signed a new contract, he will stay with Williams until 2026. The British hope to leave a long period of moderate competitiveness behind them in the future. The new Mercedes engines of 2026 are decisive for new success for the iconic racing team.
