Liam Lawson has responded for the first time to his dismissal from Red Bull. The New Zealander will be replaced by Yuki Tsunoda from the Grand Prix of Japan, and will return to sister team Racing Bulls. Although Lawson is looking forward to the race at Suzuka, the driver candidly admits that it is a ‘difficult’ time for him.

After two Grand Prix, Liam Lawson’s adventure with Red Bull is, for now, over. The Austrian racing stable announced on Thursday that the New Zealander will be sent back to Racing Bulls. Yuki Tsunoda will become the new teammate of Max Verstappen. The Japanese driver will thus make his long-awaited Red Bull debut for his home fans in Japan, while Lawson will ‘mature’ again at the sister team.

The swap of the two drivers has stirred up quite a bit of dust, but Lawson is now responding for the first time to the announcement. “It has been my dream since I was a child to be a Red Bull driver,” Lawson begins on his Instagram. “It’s what I’ve worked my whole life for.”

Difficult

Lawson therefore also honestly admits that the swap with Tsunoda has not left him cold. “It’s difficult, but I’m grateful for everything that has brought me to this point in my career,” continues the newly minted Racing Bulls driver. “Everyone who has supported me, thank you for all your support. It means a lot to me.” Lawson ends the message by saying he is looking forward to the next race in Japan.Apologies for the confusion, but there seems to be a misunderstanding.
