Max Verstappen has once again garnered accolades. The Dutchman not only won a trophy for his second place in the World Championship at the recent FIA gala, but also triumphed in the Action of the Year category for his overtaking move on Oscar Piastri during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
The race in Emilia-Romagna, Italy had barely begun when Max Verstappen executed his award-winning overtaking manoeuvre. Oscar Piastri started the Grand Prix from pole position, but saw the Dutchman pass him in the initial stages. Verstappen subsequently won the Italian race.
The Action of the Year award is a public prize, and fans were allowed to cast their votes online. Besides Verstappen, Oliver Bearman – for his overtaking manoeuvre on Verstappen in Mexico City – and Lando Norris – for his overtaking move on Piastri in Austria – were also nominated. This marks the fifth time in the Dutchman’s career that he has been awarded this prize. However, due to illness, Verstappen was not present at the gala in Uzbekistan to receive his trophy.
