Lando Norris is confident that Lewis Hamilton should not be written off just yet. The Brit drove in Ferrari red for the first time this year, but apart from sprint races, he never made it to the podium. However, according to Norris, it’s only a matter of time before Hamilton starts competing more at the top of the field: ‘If anyone can recover after difficult years, it’s Mr. Hamilton.’

The 2025 season is one that Lando Norris will often look back on. After a long title fight with Max Verstappen and teammate Oscar Piastri, it was the Brit who came out on top. Norris became world champion for the first time, following in the footsteps of Lewis Hamilton at McLaren. However, for Hamilton himself, it was a season to forget as quickly as possible. Norris’s compatriot did not make it to the podium during a main race even once, thereby setting an unwanted record.

According to the young Brit, Hamilton should not be discounted. “We’ve already had a number of good battles on the track. I would love to race against Lewis more often,” Norris tells Sky Sports News. “It’s clear that Ferrari had a much harder time this year than anyone expected. But Lewis has proven that he is probably the best of all time. Everyone knows that if anyone can recover from difficult years, it’s Mr. Hamilton.”

Privilege

Norris then sings the praises not only of Hamilton. “It’s always a privilege to be able to race against someone who is the best in the world. There are a few of those guys. You have Fernando Alonso, Lewis, Max (Verstappen),” the newly crowned world champion also includes his title rival from 2025 in that list. “There are many of us drivers who want to follow in these guys’ footsteps. George Russell and Oscar (Piastri) are two of them and there are so many other guys on the grid.”
