After a lengthy hiatus, Formula 1 is set to return this weekend in Austin for the United States Grand Prix. This American race kicks off a thrilling triple header, with consecutive races in Texas, Mexico, and Brazil. Pirelli, the sponsor, has already revealed the prizes for the drivers who cross the finish line first on Sunday. The driver who emerges victorious in the United States Grand Prix will take home a unique trophy.

There’s plenty at stake during the race weekend in Austin. The race at the Circuit of the Americas is marked by the sprint race; even on Saturday, the various teams are battling for a spot on the podium. However, the most points and the biggest prizes are awarded during the main race on Sunday. Whoever manages to win a trophy in the United States Grand Prix on Sunday will take home a true work of art.

HEROO

Artist and designer Matteo Macchiavelli is responsible for the various prizes. The Italian collaborated with tire sponsor Pirelli to create three trophies, which are reminiscent of LEGO figures. This is not surprising, given that Formula 1 recently announced a major collaboration with the Danish toy manufacturer.

Introducing HERO, a Tribute to the Heroic Nature of Formula 1 Drivers

According to Macchiavelli, we are talking about HEROO, a figure designed to honor the heroic nature of a Formula 1 driver. The figure stands on a rubber pedestal shaped like a Pirelli tire. “The drivers are rightly called heroes,” says an official press release. “They race at speeds of over 300 kilometers per hour, lying in a custom-made cockpit, with a thousand horsepower engine and just over a hundred liters of fuel on board. Of course, Max Verstappen is much safer today than in the past, but that does not detract from the heroic nature of the drivers.”
