Following a successful weekend in Austria, Ferrari is also heading to the Silverstone circuit. For Scuderia, the British Grand Prix is extra special this year, as it is Lewis Hamilton‘s first home race as a Ferrari driver. However, the Italian team is not making many changes to their approach: ‘As usual, we will mainly focus on ourselves,’ reveals team boss Frédéric Vasseur.

Ferrari secured third and fourth places respectively for Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in Austria. With these results, Ferrari was the second most successful team of the race weekend at the Red Bull Ring, after McLaren. However, Scuderia still has a gap to bridge to the championship leaders. Leclerc finished in third place nearly twenty seconds behind winner Lando Norris. Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur hopes to maintain the momentum from Austria at Silverstone.

“The upgrades we brought to Spielberg certainly played a role in our good result last Sunday,” the Frenchman begins. Vasseur himself was not present at the race in Spielberg due to personal circumstances. “We have seen how important it is to focus on every aspect of our operation to deliver a strong performance. Therefore, as usual, we will focus on ourselves, with the aim of having another good weekend.”

Hamilton’s First Home Race as a Ferrari Driver

The race weekend at Silverstone holds extra significance for Scuderia, as it marks Lewis Hamilton‘s first home race as a Ferrari driver. Both Vasseur and Hamilton himself find the British GP weekend particularly charged. “What makes Silverstone so special is the atmosphere,” shares Hamilton. “There’s a reason why I’ve been on the podium here so often, and that’s the love of the fans. From my first victory in 2008 to my ninth last year, the crowd has always been with me, and wherever I am on the track, I can feel their energy from the cockpit.”
