After the racing weekend in Austin, the Formula 1 caravan heads further south for the Mexican Grand Prix. The race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez forms the second chapter of an extremely busy triple header. After the sprint weekend in Texas, the drivers are preparing for a ‘regular’ Grand Prix, although the weather in Mexico City can always spring surprises. Here’s a sneak peek at the weather forecast for the Mexican Grand Prix!
After the extreme conditions in Singapore (tropical heat and thunderstorms), Austin was a pleasant change. The United States Grand Prix experienced pleasant temperatures and remained dry throughout the weekend. For now, it seems like Formula 1 in Mexico is set for another mild weekend. This is good news for Max Verstappen, who can’t afford any more surprises in this twentieth race of the season. The Dutchman still leads the championship, with a fifty-seven point lead over rival Lando Norris.
Weather Forecast for the Mexican Grand Prix
On Friday, when the ‘regular’ two free practice sessions take place, it will be partly cloudy over the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. The chance of rain is negligible and the maximum temperature will be twenty-three degrees Celsius. On this opening day, the drivers will have to deal with the extreme altitude of Mexico City – the capital is more than two kilometers above sea level, which poses significant challenges for a Formula 1 car.
On Saturday, when both the final free practice and the qualification take place, it will remain partly cloudy, with about a ten percent chance of rain. According to the latest forecasts, it will not get warmer than twenty-two degrees. Finally, it will also remain cloudy during the race. With a thirty-five percent chance of precipitation, it could turn out to be a wet Grand Prix. The temperature will hover around twenty-two degrees Celsius.
