Just because there’s no Formula 1 for a week doesn’t mean Max Verstappen is actually free from Red Bull obligations. The Dutchman flew to Salzburg for the reopening of Red Bull’s Hangar-7. There, the world champion, along with drivers from other racing classes and sports, treated spectators to a racing demonstration, including a few donuts.

While Max Verstappen may have a week off from Formula 1, it doesn’t mean the Red Bull driver doesn’t have to work. The Dutchman flew to Salzburg, Austria, last Wednesday for the reopening of Hangar-7. He treated the fans present there to a showrun in the RB8, the car with which Sebastian Vettel won his third world title in 2012, and the champion couldn’t resist spinning a few donuts.

“In the past, they used to test in F1 more often in straight lines at the airport, but for me, it was the first time I drove a Formula 1 car at an airport,” says an enthusiastic Verstappen. “I’ve been to Hangar-7 many times, and it always feels a bit like coming home.” In addition to the Formula 1 driver, MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa and NASCAR driver Connor Zilisch also gave a demonstration, and a drag race took place between the different cars.

Hangar-7 is located at Salzburg Airport and is the home base of Red Bull’s aviation division, the Flying Bulls. Various Formula 1 cars from the Austrian racing stable are also displayed there. The building had been closed for the past five months and celebrated its grand reopening with 1500 guests. Team boss Christian Horner, advisor Helmut Marko, and CEO Oliver Mintzlaff were also present at the exclusive party.Verstappen prepares for the demonstration at the reopening of Hangar-7 (Red Bull Content Pool)
