Dave Greenwood, born March 30, 1978, in Wakefield, has been the team boss of Alpine since 2025. He is in charge ‘for administrative purposes with all relevant stakeholders’, although it is Flavio Briatore who pulls the strings in Enstone.

The Brit has extensive experience in motorsport. As an engineer, he played a key role in Renault’s world title campaigns in 2005 and 2006. He later moved to Ferrari, where he worked as a race engineer with Kimi Räikkönen during his second stint with the Scuderia. In this collaboration, Ferrari finished second in the constructors’ championship three times.

In 2018, Greenwood left Formula 1 for a position as technical director at Manor in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). He then held a similar role at United Autosports, where he contributed to victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the achievement of the WEC Team’s Championship.

Subsequently, Greenwood spent three years at Hitech as Head of Special Projects. In this role, he assembled the team responsible for applying for a Formula 1 license for 2026. However, this spot eventually went to Cadillac, after which he returned to the French racing stable as race director in early 2025.

Team Representative

Greenwood is the successor to Oliver Oakes, the founder of Hitech. His departure caused a lot of upheaval in the paddock: it followed the arrest of his brother, and Flavio Briatore was supposed to take over his duties, but was not officially appointed as Alpine team boss.

Alpine provided more clarity about the situation in the run-up to the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. Greenwood has been appointed as team representative and is in charge ‘for administrative purposes with all relevant stakeholders’, although it is Flavio Briatore who pulls the strings in Enstone. “He has full control, including the tasks previously performed by Oliver Oakes,” Alpine emphasized.
