Yuki Tsunoda provided a humorous moment during the promotion of the new Formula 1 movie F1 in New York. The Red Bull driver, who was present at the premiere along with other F1 stars, didn’t realize he was being addressed by none other than Hollywood legend Brad Pitt.
“As I was leaving the hotel, someone from behind called ‘Yuki, Yuki’,” the Japanese driver recounted in the lead-up to the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg. “I thought it was just a random fan. But when I turned around, it was Brad Pitt. He came up to me and said: ‘Hello’. He’s really a funny guy.”
Brad Pitt stars in F1, a new Hollywood film about the premier class. The Oscar winner takes on the role of Sonny Hayes, a former Formula 1 driver who is pulled out of retirement to breathe new life into a struggling team. The film, co-produced by Lewis Hamilton, aims to bring Formula 1 to the big screen in a spectacular way.
For Tsunoda, now 25 years old, it was an unexpected and comical encounter with the movie star. “I just didn’t recognize him. Maybe I should start watching more movies,” he joked.
The movie F1 has been playing in Dutch cinemas since last week.
