On Friday, Williams unveiled the FW47, their new car for the 2025 season. Driven by Carlos Sainz, the latest speed machine made its debut on the Silverstone circuit. The car was delivered in a unique color scheme for its initial test runs, made possible by the new title sponsor: tech company Atlassian. We will have to wait a bit longer for the final livery, which will be revealed at the F1-75 event in London.

During a special event at the Silverstone circuit, fans got their first glimpse of the Williams FW47, the car for the new anniversary season. The Grove-based team opted for a one-off blue-black color scheme, complete with large Atlassian logos. Carlos Sainz had the honor of putting the new car through its paces for the first time. “It all feels good, but it’s freezing,” he joked over the radio. Afterwards, the Spaniard confirmed in a conversation with former champion and Williams ambassador Jenson Button that the team can be satisfied.

‘Everything went well’

“It went fine,” he laughed. “The first lap with a new car is always exciting, but everything went well. I felt a few things, but with wet tires on a dry track, the feedback is of course not representative.” Later on Friday, slicks will be fitted to the FW47 and both Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon will be in action.

Williams is the second team to unveil their new car. On Thursday, the McLaren MCL39 made its debut on the Silverstone asphalt, also in a unique camouflage livery. In the hands of drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the car was put to the test for the first time. Next week, both Williams and McLaren will unveil the final liveries for the new season at the F1-75 event in London.
