Victor Martins is set to return with the ART Grand Prix team for a third season in F2. He aims to follow in the footsteps of Théo Pourchaire, the last Frenchman to have his name inscribed in the category’s roll of honour in 2023.

With just over three weeks to go until the first Grand Prix of the season on March 14 in Australia, Victor Martins has officially secured a car to compete in the Formula 2 Championship. The 23-year-old Frenchman has committed to an additional season with ART Grand Prix, the team he has raced with for the past two years. This signing completes the 2025 driver lineup.

Having been the top rookie in the Championship in 2023 and 5th overall, Martins faced more challenges last year. Finishing seventh in the Championship, the Alpine Academy driver now aspires to clinch the title. “I’m very excited about the idea of continuing the adventure with ART Grand Prix in 2025,” says Martins, who will be teaming up with Japanese driver Ritomo Miyata. “We share the same goal: to do everything we can to win the title. I’m surrounded by the best people to achieve my ultimate dream: Formula 1.”

Théo Pourchaire is the last Frenchman to be crowned F2 champion, also at the end of his third season in the category, in 2023. However, this victory did not pave his way to F1. In contrast, Gabriel Bortoleto, who won the title in 2024, has since become a full-time driver for Sauber.
