During the race weekend in Zandvoort, fans had the opportunity to acquire unique Max Verstappen memorabilia. The four-time world champion donated his racing gloves and undershirt for an auction by Lymph&Co, the foundation of Prince Bernhard of Orange. The worn items went under the hammer for thousands of euros. In addition to Verstappen items, racing suits and a replica trophy were also auctioned off.
According to the Lymph&Co website, the Verstappen memorabilia raised a considerable amount of money. His racing gloves attracted bids up to 4,500 euros, while his undershirt even fetched 6,750 euros. These were items that Verstappen wore during the GP in Zandvoort. Whether the items were washed in between is unclear. Other auction items included the racing suits of Nico Hülkenberg (5,000 euros) and Esteban Ocon (2,000 euros). The most expensive item turned out to be a replica of the race winner’s trophy of Oscar Piastri. The porcelain artwork went under the hammer for 32,500 euros.
Lymph&Co
In addition to his role as co-owner of the Zandvoort Circuit, Bernhard of Orange has been the driving force behind Lymph&Co for many years, the foundation he established to finance scientific research into lymphoma and to raise awareness of this disease. The prince himself overcame the disease and has since been very involved with his foundation.”
Approximately one in fifty people are diagnosed with lymphoma,” the text reads. “In the Netherlands alone, around 4,000 new patients are added each year, and this number is on the rise.
