Helmut Marko expressed euphoria in the Monza paddock following Max Verstappen‘s surprising and dominant victory at the Italian GP. “What a comeback! We are all extremely happy,” the Austrian, who is not usually easily impressed, exclaimed.
“Just two races ago, at the GP in Hungary, everyone was happy that we even scored a point. Here we win with a twenty-second lead over the McLarens. Apart from the first turn, it was sovereign. Max had everything under control consistently, and our only concerns were due to a possible safety car,” Marko told Sky Germany.
And about Max Verstappen, Marko said: “You can’t say anything when he has a twenty-second lead. That’s just Max. What a comeback! We are all extremely happy.”
