This weekend, Max Verstappen is set to make his endurance debut at the Nürburgring – the four-time world champion plans to participate in two races in the German NLS class. On Friday, he hopes to secure a special racing license that would allow him to compete in a lightly tuned Porsche Cayman GT4. The NLS organization is anticipating increased interest due to Verstappen’s participation.
The NLS has already issued a warning on their Instagram page about potential Verstappen-mania at the Nürburgring. “We expect a large crowd during our double-header this weekend,” reads a recent post. “Therefore, we ask all spectators to arrive early and be prepared for possible delays.” Verstappen’s participation had been subtly promoted earlier. For instance, the official Nürburgring account posted a photo of ‘Franz Hermann’ during a test session on the Ring. “Two races, maximum fun,” read the caption, with a wink.
It’s hardly surprising that there’s so much interest in Max Verstappen‘s NLS debut. The Nürburgring is a legendary circuit and offers many racing fans a golden opportunity to see the Dutch Formula 1 champion in action. After all, an admission ticket costs only twenty-five euros per day – a pittance compared to the ticket prices for an average Formula 1 weekend.
