After his victory in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Max Verstappen proved himself a gracious loser in the title race and immediately had some sound advice for his successor, Lando Norris: “Just be prepared for a long night,” Verstappen said with a wink, referring to the celebration the Englishman is undoubtedly going to have.
The Dutchman was one of the first people to shake Norris’s hand on the grid after the finish. It was a symbolic passing of the title: the old and the new champion met. A little later, the two friends saw each other again in the so-called cool down room. There, they spoke with Oscar Piastri (second in the race, third in the World Championship standings) about the race and the title.
As a four-time world champion, Verstappen has plenty of experience celebrating a title, so his advice comes from an expert. And you can bet that the Dutchman, a good friend of Norris, might even get to join in the celebration tonight and into the night.
