Readers of the British Autosport have voted Max Verstappen the best driver of 2025. At the prestigious Autosport Awards the Dutchman beat rivals Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Both were also nominated for the title. Verstappen also left IndyCar champion Alex Palou, Formula E champion Oliver Rowland and MotoGP star Marc Márquez in his wake. It was the fifth consecutive time he picked up this accolade.
The Autosport Awards were handed out on Wednesday at the Roadhouse in London. It was the 38th edition of the event, which has been recognising the biggest names in international motorsport since 1982. Max Verstappen was named Driver of the Year for the fifth time, an honour previously awarded to legends such as Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Mika Häkkinen, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Notably, newly crowned world champion Lando Norris missed out on the top prize in this category. He was, however, recognised as British Competition Driver of the Year.
Other categories included Rookie of the Year, Moment of the Year, Car of the Year, Rally Driver of the Year and Team of the Year. Those prizes went respectively to Isack Hadjar, Robert Kubica’s win at Le Mans, McLaren’s MCL39, Sébastien Ogier and McLaren’s Formula 1 team. Former team principal Ross Brawn also received a special Gold Medal Award for his services to motorsport.
