Formula 1 is already on the fourth day of the shakedown in Barcelona — but Red Bull are absent. The Austrian outfit has chosen to save its final of three test opportunities for Friday. Red Bull is still waiting for replacement parts for the RB22 after Isack Hadjar’s crash on Tuesday. That means Max Verstappen will have to wait another day before he can put more kilometres on the new Red Bull car.
Red Bull were at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Monday and Tuesday. The team put in a solid number of laps across the first two days of the shakedown to thoroughly test both the RB22 and the new DM01 engine. Isack Hadjar was first to sit in Red Bull’s 2026 challenger on Monday, while Max Verstappen took the wheel on Tuesday. The Dutchman completed 27 laps, although he also had a brief excursion into the gravel trap.
Friday
Red Bull’s second test day ended with a crash for Hadjar, who had taken the wheel back from Verstappen after the lunch break. The Frenchman slid off and ended up backwards against the wall. Although the damage to the RB22 was reportedly not extensive, Red Bull reshuffled its programme and did not run on Wednesday. The Austrians have also now sat out Thursday. Multiple sources say the team is still waiting on replacement parts from the factory in Milton Keynes following Hadjar’s crash. Verstappen is reported to be due to run the final kilometres of the RB22 in the shakedown in Barcelona on Friday.
