Max Verstappen is bringing a unique helmet to the GP São Paulo in Brazil, as announced by the Dutch world champion on Tuesday. The race in the Brazilian city has previously yielded Verstappen several impressive victories, with the highlight being his comeback race in the rain a year ago. “Brazil is a very special place for me,” says the Red Bull driver.
Max Verstappen has won three times at Interlagos, the circuit where the GP São Paulo in Brazil is also taking place this year. Both in 2019 – then still under the name GP Brazil – and in 2023 – as the GP São Paulo – the world champion converted his pole position there, while in 2024 he drove a masterful comeback race from the seventeenth starting spot. The circuit in the Brazilian city of São Paulo is a special place for Verstappen, which is why he is also bringing a special helmet to this year’s edition.
‘Emotion’
“We’ve had some great moments there,” Verstappen reveals on Red Bull’s social media channels the reason behind the special Brazilian helmet. “It’s incredible to return to this old-school circuit and be part of the atmosphere there. It’s also a race with a lot of emotion, especially because of last year’s race. That’s when I won from the seventeenth starting spot.” The Brazilian comeback race later also proved to be a crucial moment in his pursuit of the fourth world title. “I hope the helmet looks just as good on the circuit.”
