Bad news for fans of Max Verstappen. Apart from a cameo, the four-time world champion is unlikely to feature much in Brad Pitt’s new F1 film. The Dutchman discusses the possibility of filming additional scenes with the American actor, but he is fine with the fact that it ultimately did not happen. ‘I’m not really excited about it,’ Verstappen says about the upcoming film.
In just a month, the long-awaited F1: The Film starring Brad Pitt will be released. Opinions are divided on how successful the film will be, but cameos from the current grid’s drivers at least provide a touch of authenticity. Max Verstappen was already seen in the trailer, but the driver has bad news for fans hoping to catch more than a glimpse of the world champion.
The Dutchman reveals to the British Telegraph that he declined the opportunity to film additional scenes with lead actor Pitt. “We talked about it, but in the end, it didn’t really happen. But that’s fine. It’s not why I’m here,” Verstappen honestly says. The Red Bull driver hopes the new Hollywood blockbuster will be a success, but adds: “It’s not something I’m personally really excited about.”
Steering Clear of Drama
Verstappen wants to have as little to do with the Formula 1 world and all the accompanying drama as possible outside the circuits, he explains in the further interview. “I live my life. As soon as I leave the paddock here, I don’t think about it anymore,” the driver continues. “I’ve done my thing on the Nordschleife. I have other projects with GT3 that I’m very passionate about. My activities with Team Redline. I’m busy. That keeps me away from all the gossip or possible things that happen (in Formula 1). I’m not interested.”
