Max Verstappen did not start the Grand Prix weekend in Great Britain on a positive note. The Dutchman complained about the handling and balance of the RB21 during the first free practice sessions. The unpredictable car has so far been very sensitive to the wind in Silverstone, concludes the four-time world champion.

The tenth time in the first free practice. It was not a pleasant start to the race weekend in Silverstone for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman was able to reconnect with the other top teams on Friday afternoon during FP2, but then had to settle for the fifth fastest time. The Red Bull driver says that on the Friday of the GP Great Britain, he mainly struggled with the balance of his RB21.

‘Not a great day’

“For me personally, it was not a great day today and it was difficult to find a lot of balance in the car and in the corners,” the four-time world champion reflects on his Friday after the session. Verstappen also complained about the handling of the still unpredictable RB21 during the free practice sessions. “The wind has a significant influence, but that’s no excuse, because you just have to deal with it. It’s not easy, but it’s the same for everyone.”

“Every weekend is a bit different and you have to adapt to changing conditions and scenarios, but our car seems quite sensitive to the wind this week,” Verstappen adds. “For Saturday, we can analyze our data and see what we can do to improve, but I think overall we have underperformed a bit.” There is a small chance of rain predicted for both the qualification and the race, which means the weather conditions in Silverstone could change a bit in the coming days.
