It’s press day in Miami, but Max Verstappen is notably absent. He has a special reason for this: his girlfriend Kelly Piquet is about to give birth. However, the four-time world champion will not miss the race and is reportedly already on his way to Miami.

Red Bull reports that Verstappen will not be present at the media day in Miami today because his partner Kelly is expecting a baby. “Everything is fine and he will be at the circuit tomorrow for the race weekend. We are not providing further comment at this time, out of respect for Max’s and his family’s privacy,” the team stated.

The first free practice for the Miami Grand Prix begins tomorrow at 16:30 UTC. The Red Bull driver is reportedly already on his way, as an X-account is tracking the movements of his private jet. Prior to the F1 75 event in London, the Dutchman stated that he would not miss a race for the birth. “Of course, I could skip a race, but I won’t. That’s not part of being a driver. So it could be that I’m not there. But we’ll see when the birth gets closer.”
