Max Verstappen will not be attending the world premiere of the cinema film ‘F1 The Movie’, taking place this upcoming Monday in New York. All F1 drivers have been invited, but the four-time world champion is among those who have other priorities. “I’m going home to my little girl,” Verstappen shares in Montreal, in the run-up to the Canadian Grand Prix.
His name does appear in the credits of ‘F1 The Movie’ and Max Verstappen is prominently featured several times throughout the film, but the driver himself is not particularly interested. Verstappen has previously expressed that he is not a big fan of racing films in general.
“Will I watch the film at a later date? Maybe. If it happens to be on or if someone else wants to see it, I’m fine with that. And maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. I sincerely hope it’s a good and successful film and that it has a positive impact on Formula 1. Just don’t force me to go somewhere, because that’s not how it should be,” says Verstappen.
In ‘F1 The Movie’, Brad Pitt (61) stars as Sonny Hayes, a veteran who returns to Formula 1 after a long absence. When Max Verstappen is asked if he sees himself winning a Formula 1 race at the age of 61, he laughs. Then: “No, at 61 I won’t be involved with Formula 1. Who knows, I might be a grandfather by then.”
