During the qualifying round for the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Max Verstappen once again demonstrated his top form on Saturday, securing pole position and setting a new lap record. However, the gap between him and his teammate Yuki Tsunoda, who finished in 10th place, was over seven-tenths of a second, a discrepancy also noted by former world champion Nico Rosberg.
“I don’t understand it, because Yuki is good. He knows how to drive a race car,” the German analyst stated on Sky F1. “This issue has been ongoing for years, and yet Yuki is once again more than seven-tenths behind Max Verstappen. It’s inexplicable.”
Rosberg continued, “I hear from the team that his car is not exactly the same as Max’s, but that doesn’t account for a seven-tenths difference. Maybe a tenth or so. How is it possible that he is yet again so far behind Verstappen? It’s bizarre that they can’t find a solution. I feel for Yuki, as this is yet another challenging day for him.”
