Max Verstappen expressed moderate satisfaction on Friday in Montreal after the first training day for the Canadian Grand Prix. “It was a positive day for us,” he said after the second session, which he finished in ninth place. In the first free practice earlier in the day, the four-time world champion from Red Bull had been the fastest.
“Honestly, it went pretty well. In FP1 we felt quite good in the car, but FP2 was a bit more challenging for other reasons,” he explained.
Verstappen: “There was a bit less balance and we felt a bit less comfortable in the car, which we need to investigate. But overall, I think it was a positive day for us. If we can get it back to how it felt in FP1, then we’re doing well. We’ll see how the qualification goes on Saturday. There’s still one session with FP3 to get it right, we just need to get it in a good window and then we can see how far we can get in the qualification.”
