Max Verstappen will certainly miss the Dutch GP when it disappears from the calendar after 2026. The Dutchman cherishes the opportunity to race in his home country, especially when he sees a sea of orange-clad fans cheering for him in the dunes during the weekend. “It brings a smile to my face when I see so much orange,” Verstappen shares in Zandvoort.
The Dutch Grand Prix is scheduled for the penultimate time this year. After the comeback of Circuit Zandvoort in 2021, the curtain will fall on the Dutch Grand Prix just six seasons later. This is a disappointment, also for local hero Max Verstappen.
Three Days of Celebration
The Dutchman truly enjoys racing in his home country. “It brings a smile to my face when I see so much orange. That’s very special,” Verstappen shares in Zandvoort. “The weekend in Zandvoort is not just about racing, there’s also a lot of partying for three days. Of course, I can’t partake in that, but the fans have a great time.”
Does Verstappen expect to give his fans a reason to celebrate in 2025? “I don’t think Zandvoort will be our best race. But there’s a chance of rain, which always causes some chaos. We’ll see what happens.” One thing the Red Bull driver already knows for sure is that he will miss his home race. “It’s a shame. I’m proud that I was able to race at home for a few years. I’m going to make the best of it.”
