This season, Max Verstappen is not only focused on his own performance, but also on the new generation of drivers making their first steps in Formula 1. The reigning champion plays a significant mentoring role for them, but admits he is also learning from the newcomers.
“They’re just nice guys and I get along well with them,” Verstappen shares during the media session in Monza. “They’re just being themselves. And if you can get along with them, why not? I’m not here to hide anything.”
The Dutchman emphasizes that his relationship with the rookies involves more than just a few pieces of advice on the paddock. The young drivers often train with him and discuss their future plans together. “We’re just very open with each other. I’ve been in F1 for a while now, so it’s always good to talk to each other. Besides, I can also learn something from the new generation. So we’re actually nicely stimulating each other.”
