The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is just around the corner! After a sun-drenched race weekend in Monza – and a detour by Max Verstappen to the Nürburgring – the Formula 1 circus travels to Baku this week. The coastal city opens its doors for the seventeenth round of the current season. The high-speed Baku City Circuit often delivers spectacle, and this year the weather could also play a role. Check out the weather forecast for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix here!

The European part of the Formula 1 season has often been plagued by rain. While it remained dry in Italy, the drivers faced varying conditions in earlier races. During the Grand Prix of Great Britain, Belgium, and the Netherlands, rain fell at different times. Wetness also seems to play a role in Azerbaijan this weekend. Normally, it is pleasant in Baku around this time of the year, but according to the latest predictions, Verstappen and his colleagues will not stay dry.

Weather Forecast for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix

On Friday, when the first and second free practice are scheduled, it seems to be raining heavily. Formula 1 will face temperatures up to a maximum of 23 degrees Celsius, while the chance of precipitation is 100 percent. It only seems to clear up in the evening. On Saturday, during the all-important qualification, it will probably stay dry. The chance of rain is then only 30 percent, although it cools down to about 21 degrees. On Sunday, the temperature rises slightly, but the chance of rain also increases.

In addition, the race weekend in Baku will also be heavily influenced by the wind, especially on Saturday. From the northwest, treacherous gusts of wind can occasionally arise. Due to the high buildings around the circuit, this can cause unpredictable situations; a sudden gust of wind directly affects the controllability of a Formula 1 car. We have seen this happen more often during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
