Prior to the race weekend in Great Britain, several showers were already forecasted. However, over the past few days, little rain has fallen on Silverstone. With the exception of the qualification – when some drivers warned of droplets on their visor – Formula 1 remained dry. Sunday tells a different story – the Formula 3 main race, which was held in the morning, had to be suspended due to heavy rainfall. Should Max Verstappen also prepare for rain?
It seems that it will remain grey over the British circuit all day. At 11:00 local time, the main race of Formula 2 is scheduled – championship leader Richard Verschoor and his colleagues should also prepare for rain on Silverstone. The question is whether Max Verstappen, who starts from pole position thanks to a masterful qualifying round, will have to deal with a water ballet. The Dutchman often proves to be very strong in wet conditions, but it’s possible that the showers will have passed by the time of the Grand Prix.
The British GP starts at 15:00 local time. It is quite possible that the asphalt will still be wet, although the chance of rain decreases in the afternoon. The expectation is that there is about a 25% chance of a shower during the race. Furthermore, a relatively gentle wind will blow from the northwest. The temperature will be around 20 degrees Celsius, with the asphalt temperature between 28 and 32 degrees. Of course, British weather is unpredictable, so the Formula 1 teams will be prepared for everything. Because it rained heavily this morning, all scenarios are being kept open.
