Max Verstappen missed out on the front row for the sprint race in Miami: in the sprint qualification, the Dutchman could only manage fourth place. The Red Bull driver is content with the result and says he wants to make the best of it, but predicts a challenging race.

Max Verstappen speaks realistically about his fourth place in the sprint qualification. “I think whatever we did in Q3 was good, the tyres held up reasonably well. But unfortunately, since FP1, I’ve been struggling with understeer in the car, and on a circuit like this with all those slow corners, you just lose quite a bit of lap time,” he begins his story. “P4 is fine. It’s not where I want to be, but you also have to be realistic about the limitations we have at the moment, and I think it was still quite close.”

Heat

The Red Bull driver refuses to pin himself down on expectations for the race. “It’s always very difficult to say anything during a Sprint weekend, because there’s no real data from the long runs,” he explains. “But purely based on my feeling and how the balance of the car felt, I think it’s going to be tough with the heat. We know our limitations, we just have to try to make the best of it.”
