Alex Dunne was disqualified after the main event in Formula 2 at the Red Bull Ring due to excessive wear on the plank beneath his car. This turn of events proved beneficial for Richard Verschoor, who won the race in Austria, thereby solidifying his lead in the championship. His advantage over Dunne now stands at 24 points.

After the race, Dunne’s car was inspected. Excessive wear was found on the front plank of the vehicle, with measurements showing a thickness of 3.37 mm and 3.27 mm at the edges of two of the designated measurement points. This is below the required minimum thickness of 4 mm. The stewards heard both the driver and a representative of the team, but they could not provide a valid explanation for the excessively thin plank.
