It was an excellent weekend for Formula 2 driver Richard Verschoor at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. On Saturday, the Dutchman claimed victory in the sprint race, and a day later, Verschoor crossed the finish line third in the main race. The MP Motorsport driver thus made significant progress in the championship standings, even rising to second place.
After the race weekend in Barcelona, Verschoor is only three points behind championship leader Alexander Dunne. The McLaren junior finished fifth in the main race. The winner was Red Bull talent Arvid Lindblad, who had started the race from pole position, followed by Sebastian Montoya.
Verschoor, who started fifth, completed the podium after the race was ended behind the safety car due to Leonardo Fornaroli’s car stalling. The safety car came just in time for Verschoor, as Jak Crawford, who finished fourth, was still within the DRS of the Dutchman in lap 35, two laps before the end of the race.
