Frédéric Vasseur has a number of clear goals in mind for his team, Ferrari. The ink on his contract extension has barely dried, but the Frenchman already knows what he wants to achieve with the Italian racing stable by the end of the year: winning races. Ultimately, Vasseur’s goal is to bring Ferrari back to the glory days it experienced under Jean Todt, but according to the Frenchman, this will take more time.

Ferrari announced at the end of July that it will continue with Frédéric Vasseur at the helm for the coming year. After months of speculation about the Frenchman’s future with the Scuderia, the Italian racing stable chose stability with the team boss’s contract extension. Vasseur will thus also lead the team when significant changes to the technical regulations are scheduled for 2026.

Glorious Days

The Scuderia is currently second in the constructors’ championship, ahead of Mercedes and Max Verstappen‘s Red Bull, and aims to secure this position. “We also want to win some races by the end of the year,” Vasseur tells Formula1.com. The Frenchman hopes to then bring the team back to the glory days of Jean Todt – Ferrari won eight constructors’ and six drivers’ titles under the former team boss – but admits that this will take time.

“That not only takes time at Ferrari, but at every team,” the Frenchman continues. “If you look at all the success stories in F1 – for example when Christian (Horner) came to Red Bull or Jean to Ferrari – you see that all these success stories needed time before the first victory was achieved. That’s just how it works in the paddock: you need a few years to build a team and gather the people you want to have with you. And then it also takes time to work together.” According to Vasseur, 2026 offers a first ‘good opportunity’ to bring everything together within the Scuderia.
