Frédéric Vasseur has expressed high praise for Carlos Sainz and his contribution to Ferrari’s success. Despite Sainz having to make way for Lewis Hamilton at the end of the season, Vasseur has nothing but admiration for the 30-year-old driver. The Frenchman is open to future collaborations with the Spaniard, who he believes has ‘a long career ahead of him’.

Vasseur has a deep respect for Carlos Sainz and appreciates what he has done for the team over the years. “Even in less successful seasons, he has been able to motivate the team – look at his pole position in Monza and the victory in Singapore in 2023. This probably also spurred Charles Leclerc to perform better,” said Vasseur after the GP in Monza.

Team Boss Praises Sainz’s Contributions

“As a racer, he has clearly been a significant part of this team’s recovery,” the team boss continued. “He’s doing very well again this season. The situation wasn’t always easy, but he remains extremely professional.” Vasseur does not rule out that their paths may cross again in the future. “Would I want to work with Sainz again in the future? Absolutely,” Vasseur concluded. “I am more than satisfied with him and want to maintain a very good relationship with him.”

Door Remains Open

Sainz also leaves the door open to Ferrari, despite his move to Williams in 2025. “The fact that I’m leaving at the end of the year doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong between me and Ferrari,” Sainz said in an interview with The Athletic. “A seven-time world champion (Lewis Hamilton) wanted to come to Ferrari in the last years of his career, so I had to make way. I hold no grudge about that.”

The ‘smooth operator’ does not rule out a possible return to Maranello. “I probably have a long career ahead of me,” he explained. “So why would I close the door to a possible return to Ferrari?”
