Yuki Tsunoda has now participated in four Grand Prix races for the Red Bull team. After the GP in China, he was transferred to the main team in time for his home race in Japan. His performance so far can be considered decent – he qualified in the top ten three times, and he has already collected six World Championship points for the Austrians. Top advisor Helmut Marko praises Tsunoda for his speed in recent races, although he also voices some criticism.
“Yuki (Tsunoda, ed.) is getting better and better,” Helmut Marko responded after the GP in Miami to the Austrian OE24. “He is the first teammate of Max Verstappen who is actually at Max’s level,” he began his praise of the young Japanese. However, the 82-year-old Red Bull boss is not entirely positive. Marko still sees the same flaws in Tsunoda that he previously identified at Racing Bulls, and before that at AlphaTauri. “Unfortunately, he still makes too many mistakes as soon as the pressure increases,” he judged.
‘Don’t Underestimate Isack Hadjar’
Marko is also enthusiastic about the competition, especially championship leader Oscar Piastri. He finds it ‘refreshing’ to see that the Australian manages to keep his cool at the top of the field. “I am very impressed,” said Marko. “Piastri always remains calm and constantly puts everyone under pressure. He always wants to drive at the front. That’s really refreshing to see.”
Finally, Marko praised Tsunoda’s former teammate and Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar, who also receives compliments after six Grand Prix races. “I would certainly not underestimate him,” the Austrian warned. “He missed a new World Championship point in Miami by a few hundredths.”
