Liam Lawson is on thin ice! After two Grands Prix for Red Bull, whispers are already circulating that Racing Bulls’ star Yuki Tsunoda will inherit his seat. Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher believes the decision has already been made and that we can soon call Tsunoda a Red Bull driver. At the same time, he questions whether the Japanese driver is making the right move by finally stepping up to the main team.

After another challenging weekend for Liam Lawson during the GP of China, a driver change seems imminent at Red Bull. Yuki Tsunoda, who has been driving for the subsidiary team for over four years, may finally get a chance with the Austrians. According to the Spanish press, Lawson, who has not scored any points and has repeatedly qualified at the back, has been so disappointing that he may soon have to bow out of Formula 1. Ralf Schumacher believes it is inevitable that another reshuffling of seats will take place at Red Bull.

‘You destabilize Racing Bulls’

“It’s not officially confirmed yet, but it seems likely,” he told the German branch of Sky Sports. The German was referring to the fact that Tsunoda will soon be brought to Red Bull. “That’s incredible, and it needs to be said,” he continued. “From a management perspective, it’s also a bad idea. I don’t understand it. It destabilizes the Racing Bulls team, which is finally in a good position with both drivers. Moreover, it’s detrimental to Tsunoda – he may be better than Lawson, but he doesn’t stand a chance next to Verstappen.”

“Lawson should return to Racing Bulls in this case and strengthen the team there again,” Schumacher continued. “It’s pure chaos at Red Bull. The main team is not only slow, but also recklessly changes drivers. I find that incredible. If I were Tsunoda’s manager, I wouldn’t advise him to go to Red Bull. At the moment, Racing Bulls has a better car that he can handle well. He wouldn’t be doing himself any favors by moving.”
