Toto Wolff is over the moon following Lewis Hamilton’s victory at Silverstone. The team boss is thrilled that Hamilton clinched another win for Mercedes, especially as the Brit is set to move to Ferrari next year. Wolff is unfazed by the fact that Hamilton is in his final year with the German racing team.
Tears streamed down Lewis Hamilton’s face as he crossed the finish line first at Silverstone. Since the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia in 2021, the Brit had been waiting for his next victory. It wasn’t just an emotional moment for Hamilton, Toto Wolff was also ecstatic.

Reflecting on Hamilton’s Victory and Departure
“The past two years have been so challenging that we couldn’t provide the drivers with a car that could compete for victories,” the Austrian shares. “To then see him win again, during the British Grand Prix, in his last race for Mercedes here, it’s almost like a small fairy tale. You couldn’t have made it up.”
Wolff observed how the victory lifted a weight off Hamilton’s shoulders. “Our relationship goes way back. We’ve both suffered at different times. He’s been there for me and recently I’ve tried to dispel his doubts. That’s why it feels so good that he could now put all negative thoughts aside.”
Wolff Has No Regrets About Hamilton’s Departure
Hamilton will be leaving for Ferrari at the end of the season. This marks the end of a twelve-year collaboration between Wolff and the seven-time world champion. Yet, the team boss has no regrets about not being able to convince Hamilton to stay with Mercedes. “In my life, I have no regrets,” Wolff states clearly. “We are adults, we make decisions, we go for it. That’s the most important thing.” The Austrian hopes to conclude the collaboration with Hamilton on a high note.
