The Suzuka Circuit, home of the Japanese Grand Prix, is undergoing significant renovations ahead of the Japanese race weekend at the end of March. Suzuka is a popular circuit among drivers, thanks in part to its challenging layout. The organization behind the circuit is making adjustments to the track before the premier class returns to Japan.
A new layer of asphalt is being applied to the entire circuit. As a result, the track will pose an additional challenge for drivers in March – when Formula 1 returns to Japan – due to the lack of grip. The ‘West Course’ section of the circuit, including the famous ‘Spoon Curve’, is also undergoing modifications and is currently completely closed due to the work.
Beloved Circuit
The Japanese circuit is a very popular racetrack among drivers. “I always love racing at Suzuka,” said Max Verstappen, the most recent winner of the Japanese Grand Prix, before the Suzuka race in 2025. Oscar Piastri agreed with the Dutchman. “Suzuka is one of the most enjoyable circuits for us as drivers. The fact that the circuit has remained the same for many years means it feels great to race here,” the Australian said in the preview of the 2025 race.
