Visa Cash App RB has confirmed that there will be no driver changes; Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will continue with the Red Bull subsidiary team after the summer break. It was announced on Monday that Sergio Pérez will retain his seat, and now we know that there will be no changes in Faenza either. Reserve driver Liam Lawson is the big loser; he sees his chances of a Formula 1 contract slipping away.

After weeks of speculation, it was announced on Monday that Sergio Pérez will continue as Max Verstappen’s teammate. Many experts had already written off the Mexican, especially since he has lost an enormous amount of points in the last few months. Red Bull now has to fear for the constructors’ championship – many fans think that McLaren is being handed the title.

Liam Lawson’s Career Prospects

With the continuation of Pérez, Visa RB drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo see their chances of promotion disappear. The latter would have been the safest option for Red Bull. Reserve driver Liam Lawson, considered by many fans a good replacement for Pérez, also misses out. It is now known that he does not need to knock on Visa RB’s door; the subsidiary team from Faenza wants to finish the year with the current line-up.

Especially at the beginning of the season, when Pérez’s contract was not yet in doubt, many experts claimed that Ricciardo should be sacrificed for the benefit of Lawson. The Australian had to concede to teammate Yuki Tsunoda. Lawson, who did well during several stand-ins in 2023, has repeatedly confirmed that he is looking for a spot on the grid. Reportedly, he is now looking beyond the Red Bull family; Audi, among others, has reportedly piqued his interest.
