Ever since the announcement of Carlos Sainz taking his place, speculation has been rife about whether Logan Sargeant will complete the season as a Williams driver. Rumors of an early departure have been circulating for a while and have only grown stronger. But is there any truth to these rumors? The team has a clear answer.

Both friends and foes – and probably Logan Sargeant himself – saw the American’s departure coming from a mile away. For the second season in a row, Sargeant has been consistently outperformed in both qualifications and races by his teammate, Alex Albon. His move to Williams brought a financial boost to the team, which was welcome. However, it has not brought much in terms of sporting success. “But I will do everything I can to ensure he finishes the season,” asserts team boss James Vowles.

While the Englishman has chosen Carlos Sainz as the new driver, he insists that this does not mean Williams will immediately drop Sargeant this season. “He is a driver from the Williams Academy. And he will remain so. We have invested in Logan. Not only in these two years of Formula 1, but also during his time in Formula 2 and other classes. As long as he earns it, with good performances like in Silverstone and Budapest, he will have a seat,” Vowles explains.
