Sergio Pérez’s Disappointing Performance in Singapore GP Qualifiers
Sergio Pérez, the Mexican driver for Red Bull Racing, has once again let his team down. During the Q2 of the qualifying session for the Singapore Grand Prix, Pérez was eliminated, starting Sunday from P13. Pérez described the situation as a “nightmare”.
With the pressure mounting on Red Bull, especially in the constructors’ championship, the team was eager to perform well in the qualifiers. McLaren has now taken the lead in the constructors’ championship from Red Bull, with Ferrari hot on the heels of Max Verstappen and Pérez’s team. While Verstappen exceeded expectations during the qualifying session in Singapore (P2), Pérez, on the other hand, was a major disappointment.
Feeling somewhat guilty, Pérez shared his thoughts after the event. “A nightmare,” he began, a term he often uses after a disappointing performance. “In Q2, there was something unusual with my tires. I couldn’t get them to the right temperature window. Unfortunately, this makes a big difference. For me, it meant elimination in Q2.”
For Sunday’s race (start: 12:00 UTC), Pérez has no illusions. “It’s hard to overtake on this track. It’s going to be a tough race. For me, it’s about trying to score points and minimize the damage as much as possible,” said Sergio Pérez.
Looking Forward to the Singapore Grand Prix
Despite the setback, the team and fans are eagerly looking forward to the Grand Prix in Singapore. The race promises to be a thrilling event, with teams vying for the top spot in the constructors’ championship.
