On Tuesday, Sauber unveiled a special livery for the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix. With this, the team is bidding farewell to Stake, the betting platform that has been the title sponsor of the Swiss racing stable for the past few years. For the occasion, the cars of Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto are adorned with checkered flags, symbolizing the end of the partnership. From next year, Sauber will become an Audi factory team, which will also attract new sponsors.
This year, Sauber has chosen a special livery for the third time. After unique color schemes in Miami and Spain, the team is opting for the familiar green-black design in Las Vegas, this time combined with checkered flags. Sauber itself calls the design the ‘Final Lap’ livery. Williams and Alpine have also unveiled special liveries for the race weekend in Nevada. The Brits opted for a black design in honor of title sponsor Atlassian, while Alpine is bringing back BWT’s pink.
Eulogy
“‘Final Lap’ is a striking visual tribute, inspired by the excitement and emotion of the most iconic symbol in Formula 1: the checkered flag,” Sauber wrote in an official press release. “The flowing checkered elements seamlessly blend into the deep black carbon and the team’s signature neon green. The result is a dynamic look that unmistakably fits the neon glow of Las Vegas. The design also symbolizes the team’s upward trend in 2025. It is a tribute to all the hard work in Hinwil and the passion of our fans.”
“Las Vegas is a race that revolves around spectacle, energy, and pushing boundaries,” said Sauber team boss Jonathan Wheatley. “That’s exactly what this livery represents. The design is bold, striking, and confident, and at the same time a fitting tribute to our collaboration with Stake.” With the takeover by Audi in 2026, Sauber will get a new identity. As a factory team of the Germans, the team says goodbye to both the well-known sponsors and the neon green livery. Audi already unveiled their concept design for the 2026 color scheme last week.
