Formula 1 has responded to criticism from driver Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard claimed after the Singapore Grand Prix that the premier class too often showcases reactions from celebrities and drivers’ partners, at the expense of the action on the track. However, according to the premier class, the race always takes center stage in the broadcasts and they never make concessions in this area.

Carlos Sainz drove an impressive catch-up race into the top ten in Singapore. However, the Spaniard was hardly featured in the official Formula 1 broadcast, while reactions from celebrities and partners of the drivers were shown multiple times. Sainz voiced his complaint to the Spanish El Partidazo de COPE. “For me, they go a bit too far with showing celebrities and girlfriends,” said the Spaniard. “Last weekend, they didn’t show any of the four or five overtaking maneuvers I made at the end.”

Formula 1 Refutes Sainz

Formula 1 now responds to the criticism of the Williams driver, stating that they always seek the right balance between the action on the track and the broader context in the broadcasts. “We always focus on delivering the best possible images of the race to our fans and never make concessions to the most important thing: the race on the track,” an F1 spokesperson told Motorsport.com.

“Our team does an excellent job of reporting a very complex situation with multiple cars at different points on the track and also provides great context moments from the stands, prominent guests, and the locations where we race,” the spokesperson continued. “We always strive for excellence and improvement in what we deliver.”
