Toto Wolff reflects positively on the first six races of the season. According to the team boss, Mercedes has achieved impressive results, including four podium finishes for George Russell, but needs to work even harder to secure a victory. Starting from Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s first home race in Imola, the Silver Arrows will therefore bring upgrades.

With a second place in the constructors’ championship, 105 points behind leader McLaren, Mercedes is currently the best of the rest. The Silver Arrows have not yet won this season, but have seen George Russell climb the podium multiple times. A good start is half the work, also thinks team boss Toto Wolff on the eve of the first European race of the year.

Three Conclusions

“We are heading to Imola now that we have completed a quarter of the season,” the team boss begins his preview for the GP Emilia-Romagna. “From these first six races, we can draw the following conclusions.” The team boss then draws three conclusions. “We are better than last year, the W16 is better balanced than its predecessor. Secondly, we could achieve better results, with even four times a podium finish.” Russell stood on the podium during the Grands Prix of Australia, China, Bahrain, and Miami.Russell Repays Parents Over 1.5 Million for Their Support of His Career

“But we still have work to do if we want to aim for victory,” Wolff draws his third conclusion. The focus within the German team is therefore on the latter. “The team on Lauda Drive (the street of the Mercedes campus in Brackley) has been working hard on the upgrades we will bring to the upcoming races. However, everything is relative within F1 and we know that our rivals will also make progress.”

Antonelli’s First Home Race

The upcoming Italian Grand Prix signifies not only the start of the European segment of the F1 calendar for Mercedes. It is also the first real home race for Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The young Italian previously drove a free practice session at Monza, but quickly ended up in the barriers. “Kimi grew up near the circuit, in Bologna, and therefore it will be a special race for him. But it is a race where 25 points can be won. George and Kimi will therefore be focused on achieving the best possible result.”
