Daniel Ricciardo has secured a new role at Ford, taking on the position of Global Racing Ambassador for the American automotive giant. This move indirectly reunites the affable Australian with Red Bull, as Ford is a partner of the Austrian racing team in the Red Bull Powertrains project, assisting Red Bull in the development of their own power unit.

Daniel Ricciardo has announced his new role at Ford. The Australian himself made the announcement on Friday. Ricciardo raced his last Formula 1 race in 2024, the Singapore GP. After the street race at the Marina Bay Circuit, Ricciardo’s days in Formula 1 were numbered. He was replaced by Liam Lawson at Red Bull’s sister team, Racing Bulls. Since then, the Australian has not set foot in the paddock, but had not previously confirmed that his racing days were indeed over. Until now. With his new role at Ford, Ricciardo officially ends his Formula 1 career.

To all Ford employees around the world: hello!“, writes Ricciardo in the official announcement, according to PlanetF1. “I hope everyone has had a pleasant summer, or winter if you were in Australia, and is looking forward to the rest of the 2025 season. Although my racing days are behind me, my love for everything on wheels has not diminished. I am therefore proud to be partnering with Ford and becoming their Global Racing Ambassador.” Ricciardo will primarily focus on the Raptor vehicle in his collaboration with Ford.

Red Bull

Ricciardo’s new role at Ford indirectly links him back to his former employer, Red Bull. The Austrians are collaborating with the American automotive giant on the engines for the 2026 season. Under the banner of Red Bull Powertrains, the racing team will use their own power source for the first time next year. Former engine supplier Honda will start collaborating with Aston Martin from the same season.
