Red Bull is facing significant challenges this season, as the RB21 proves difficult to handle for both Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda. This contrasts sharply with the situation at their sister team, Racing Bulls. Despite this, Red Bull team boss Laurent Mekies rules out the possibility of adopting parts from the Racing Bulls’ car.
“The question is valid, but there is an origin to the car,” Mekies tells Sky Sports F1. “The lineage of the cars is too different to transfer anything from one to the other.”
There is also the aspect of regulation. According to FIA rules, Formula 1 teams must operate independently and design the core parts of their cars themselves, although certain components can be purchased. Teams can try to imitate solutions from competitors’ photos, but Mekies emphasizes that it is now too late in the season for Red Bull.
“Formula 1 today consists of ten independent teams, each with their own ideas about development direction, the problems they encounter along the way, and the paths that result from them,” says Mekies. “There is nothing that you can directly place from one car to another. It entirely depends on how the car has been developed from the beginning.”
