Red Bull appears to be in a state of urgency. Following disappointing results at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, team boss Christian Horner called for a ‘counterattack’. The Austrians, in fact, lost the lead in the Constructors’ Championship to McLaren. In an attempt to keep up with the competition, Red Bull might even avoid special liveries.

According to the RBR Daily account, Red Bull is planning to cancel the special liveries for the Singapore Grand Prix and the United States Grand Prix. The team had previously launched a large-scale competition where fans could design their own color schemes for the RB20. In Silverstone, Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez already drove with a unique design on the car. Initially, Red Bull also wanted to use special liveries at Marina Bay and COTA, but the recent lack of performance has led to a change in these plans.

Unexpected Weight Issues with New Liveries

“These liveries were supposed to cover the entire car,” the report stated. “Unfortunately, the paint is heavier than expected. All the extra weight is detrimental to our performance, and the team is currently prioritizing making the car as competitive as possible.” Fans have expressed surprise at the news. “This doesn’t sound like a team brimming with confidence,” writes one user. However, the special liveries will not be discarded – reportedly, the color schemes will soon appear in the F1 Academy, on Hamda Al Qubaisi’s car.
