Red Bull Racing could face lean years ahead if there are no changes behind the scenes. This is the belief of former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher, now an analyst at Sky Deutschland. Schumacher is highly critical of team boss Christian Horner’s role.
Red Bull has been in turmoil for quite some time. The internal power struggle has disrupted the harmonious working environment, observes Schumacher. Moreover, there’s still the ongoing lawsuit against Horner for alleged sexual misconduct towards a team member. Master designer Adrian Newey has reportedly indicated that he wants to leave at the end of the season. Ferrari and Aston Martin are already eyeing Newey.
Schumacher: ‘I Give Red Bull Two More Years’
The deterioration of the work climate at Red Bull is Horner’s fault and no one else’s, claims Schumacher. “He is clinging to power with all his might.”
Newey has already expressed his desire to leave. Max Verstappen is likely the next one, reasons Schumacher. And with him, probably Helmut Marko. Schumacher predicts that Red Bull’s current supremacy will quickly end if the status quo is maintained. “I give Red Bull two more years and if they continue to stick with Horner, the team will sink into mediocrity. I’m pretty sure of that.”
