The Miami Grand Prix has demonstrated that Formula 1 continues to gain momentum in the United States. With a growing interest among the national audience, the race in Florida proved to be incredibly popular. Never before have so many Americans tuned in to a Formula 1 broadcast. The race weekend in Miami was the first of three American events on the calendar.
Under the watchful eye of the American public, Lando Norris drove to his first victory in Formula 1 on Sunday. As the paddock was packed with the biggest stars the United States has to offer, 3.1 million Americans tuned in live to witness the third Grand Prix of Miami. A record for the American market, where Formula 1 is becoming increasingly popular.
EPSN reports that the previous record of 2.6 million American viewers has been significantly improved. That number was set by the first Miami GP in 2022. Furthermore, this year’s weekend in Florida was the first to feature the sprint race – Formula 1 also drew a lot of attention on Saturday. The preview for the Grand Prix enjoyed the largest television audience ever during a sprint, with 946,000 American fans.
Unfortunately, there was also plenty for the attending spectators to complain about. Those who visited the Miami GP had to dig deep into their pockets for the simplest of food items.
