Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher has expressed his disapproval of Lance Stroll‘s tirade after the British Grand Prix. The Canadian finished seventh at Silverstone and voiced his dissatisfaction with the AMR25 after the race. According to Schumacher, Stroll does not sufficiently consider the impact of his criticism on the rest of the team.
Lance Stroll has made it into the top ten three times this season, including during the recent British Grand Prix. However, the Canadian was not satisfied with the course of the British race. At one point, Stroll was running third in the Grand Prix, but ultimately had to settle for seventh place. The Aston Martin driver then complained about the AMR25 over the team radio.
“Honestly, it’s the worst piece of junk I’ve ever driven. But it’s okay. Seventh,” Stroll told his race engineer Gary Gannon about the AMR25. According to former driver Ralf Schumacher, the Canadian’s tirade is ‘completely unacceptable’ and he should quickly apologize to his team. “His statements are very disappointing, and frankly, it’s a matter of manners. You have to imagine the external impact,” Schumacher begins in the Sky Deutschland Backstage Pitlane podcast.
‘Indicates a Poor Upbringing’
“The mechanics who work there day in and day out, so that those two can race. And then the boss’s son comes along and says: ‘Beautiful, and with such a worthless car.’ I must say, that is completely unacceptable, that is an absolute no-go.” The current analyst believes that Stroll’s comments also immediately undermine his own results.
“I hope he apologizes at the next race. It’s just a disgrace, indescribable, and it indicates a poor upbringing,” Schumacher continues. “I don’t know what movie he thinks he’s in, but such statements undermine his own results. These are important points. You must not forget: These are also important bonuses for the mechanics and the like.”
